Regarding one of the silhouettes in the middle panel: I am glad for Gregor Samsa that the Mi-Go gave him a job! ;-)

Light source? Makes sense but maybe food as well? I see a few insect like dudes there so calming and attracting light sounds fitting :D
Bug creatures are nice, haha.

Is there a trope that says injuries can make you more badass? I mean, it was not nice but the burned skin does make Hugh look stronger for some reason already :D

Badass Injuries

I think it's hard wired into us as humans; seeing someone who's obviously been badly injured and is still kicking makes our reptilian brain go "They took that punishment and are still around? oh man, I don't know if I can even hurt this guy then!"

Definitely. Plenty of various characters with scars or artificial cyber-limbs and so on. Heck. Even various eye-patches. Most of that is often considered "badass".

Also this, LMAO :D

The fungal colony at the center of this... colony has a multitude of uses! I don't really want to spell it out, exactly, so context clues are all I'll have to go by :)

I'm pretty sure the injuries = badass thing is a trope, but I'm a novice troper at best so I wouldn't know the answer :(

I agree with Synigma though that it's definitely something in our more primitive brain that recognizes this phenomenon :)

Sarcasm? Isn't that Jaunt just being perfectly normal? I mean that's what I'd expect from him.

Page is great, especially the middle panel.

Jaunt does tend to employ sarcasm more than the average individual I think :')

Thank you, though! This page scared me, so I'm glad people like it.

I gotta say Mi-Go central is pretty cool looking. One of the things that makes this comic stand out is MP's exploration of the non-human races as characters who have their own story to tell.

Aw, thanks, man! I'm always happy when people like my bastardized interpretations of the mythos, heh!

I like the middle panel. You have the talent to be the chief illustrator for the next print edition of Dante's Inferno!

It's omnious...

the way everyone involved with operations on or in close contact with earth seems to slowly become corrupted.

First we have Jaunt, a shambler who has adopted a fashion sense, maners and behavior of a stereotypical gentleman. Not to mention that he's been treating his minions with something suspiciously reminiscent of respect.

Then we have a some powerful parasitic horror from who knows where that seems to have formed a more symbiotic rather than parasitic relationship with a human. It even goes so far as to present itself to the humans associates rather than hide or trying to ambush and assimilate them.

An now we've got Mi-Go who not only has picked up on sarcasm, but are even talking about feelings...

I'm starting to wonder if the truth isn't that there's something about earth that scares the big horrors from beyond the stars. Not that they knew what "feeling scared" was all about before they were infected with this "feelings" stuff which probably scares them more... XD

This does sort of touch on one of the main themes I want to come across in this comic. At its core, aside from the story I want to tell because I think it's cool and fun, there's a strong undercurrent of 'humanity.' In all the ways I'm disrespectful to the mythos with this comic, I think that might be the biggest thing.

Don't get me wrong, there are monsters here that do not feel in any capacity that we would understand, the Mi-Go included - this one in particular simply is more equipped to pick up on these things.

Jaunt, as he finds himself bested and countered, has grown something akin to genuine empathy for his comrades as he comes to rely on them more and more. Everyone here has a lesson to learn ;)

Fantastic Page!

The middle panel looks great! And it looks like Jaunt's loyalty to Nyarlathotep is quickly deteriorating. But I do love the fact that the Mi-Go understood his sarcasm.

Whatever loyalty Jaunt ever had. We'll see more about that in coming chapters :)

Thank you for the compliments!
