I dunno, Barry wasn't being very diplomatic, either. "All the bad things are your fault" doesn't tend to go over well with middle managers, heh.

Besides, it's not Jaunt's fault everyone's turning into fish-people. Blame the Marshes!

He's not mad about deep one hybrids or that he is one, he's just trying to call attention to the workforce Jaunt is saddled with - it's not necessarily ideal for a largely land-bound leader like himself, heh.

Barry's just frustrated about seeing bad things happen to his friends and he's currently got crazy hormonal issues during his transformation :)

"crazy hormonal issues"

I am reminded of those urban rivers with so much estrogen from human sewage (food and that produced by our fat and wasted pharma) that males don't even develop.
Do with that what you will.

Simple logic merits a simple answer. It might not be diplomatic, but Jaunt is on a timetable that is not dictated by him, so a longer conversation will just have to wait until later.

HA! And then his leading qualities are questioned. Yeah. I guess it might have to do with the transformation as well but then... They already lost far too many times. Is this the first member of his gang to complain? I think so. But then I think Barry already did previously.
I guess now it is going to be more about what Jaunt REALLY thinks.

Barry's always been kinda iffy about Jaunts involvement, but now that his best friend is hurt, it's a lot more personal. Also hormone balance is way off.

Jaunt, on the other hand, doesn't want to hear it it seems, heh.

Barry, buddy, pal...I hate to tell you this but Jaunt's a LOT better than most middle managements tend to be when it comes to vast take-over-the-world plots.

Even when wearing a blanket, when Jaunt wants to sweep off, things stay swept. Look at the lines in that last panel on his blankie-cloak. :O

He turned super dramatically - it might look cooler if it were a cloak rather than a blanket, but, hey :)

The last panel does a good job of capturing the loneliness of command that is experienced everyday by Jaunt. It may turn out that there is a good reason why Jaunt can not brief his subordinates more fully on his mission and intentions.

Hm. I guess it is always easier for us here to be more on the side of the subordinates.
Good point. Perhaps Jaunt is experiencing problems of his own in his head after everything that has happened.
Kinda easy for Barry to complain. But I get both sides.

I did always wonder how much C'thulhu is a 'terrestrial god' for the deep ones, and whether or not they understood exactly what his origins were. It would dramatically alter how receptive they are to other alien gods, heh.

Tbh, I think these gods have enough status or power to not really mind any of this. Definitely not their underlings. To them a thousand years is something absolutely fine I guess and can push their plans slowly. There will always be someone to serve them regardless of the time period, nor should they care in the first place.

Jaunt is very very low in the hierarchy if I am correct but still high enough to be important around. Perhaps Barry sees all that adjusted to their scale.
