Oh hey, another familiar face!

Well, not so much.

An unfamiliar face on a familiar person!

Interesting. First time we've seen one further along in the transformation, I think. Still seems pretty civil and eloquent for a deep one, heh.

Is it intended that I cannot tell Al's emotions? Dunno. I guess her cares but he always comes across as indifferent. Orders are orders to him and that is that. Hm.

I see. Further stages of evolution? I admit I forgot about that but here it is. It is inevitable for the fishmen to transform further and further and I guess a shame too. I think so far, all of them accepted their future fate.

I don't know; does a caterpillar have regrets it must eventually become a butterfly?

Do caterpillars have feelings? I doubt it. They just live and eat and then transform. Probably do not even know why. It is coded in them how they mechanically live their life.

But I get what you are saying. My point is that here they went from normal humans to fishmen and continue to evolve into not exactly butterflies. Would you like to turn into a completely different humanoid being and losing your touch with humans and maybe humanity?

I guess in the end it is subjective. Some may have lingering affections and feelings of regret before they transform and some may not.

Does that make sense?

I wanted to explore the idea of how they transition from man to full deep-one, and the process of finally going out to sea. I think through the town's history they've tried a few methods, and for the purposes of the story, this is just one of them :)

As far as Al goes, he's constantly afflicted with depression and melancholia, so even if he accepts things, he's generally in a low mood.

Nice work on the webbed hands. Surely there will be a point in the plot where there is a trip to Devil's Reef. I've always wondered how the Deep Ones made their jewelry. Webbed hands and under water? Maybe it is grown organically like 3-d printing.

Thank you!

I've wondered that, too, but I imagine it's a biological process or just the result of an infinite amount of patience. When you have an eternity, you can make whatever you want!

Barry is just a loyal foot soldier in a war not of his choosing. And, as General Sherman noted, "War is H-E-Double Toothpicks".

"Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye" was a famous antiwar song of the 19th Century that got its second wind in the 1960s.
