Happy indigenous people's week! Is that a thing? It should be a thing.

So yeah - just as I get this buffer re-built and things sorta back on track, I get another curve-ball thrown at me. I have a potential opportunity coming up, work wise, that would require me to move multiple states west and do so within the next couple weeks. It's a lot to think about, the comic will still get done and uploaded etc., I'm just worried about stress and stuff affecting the quality.

I'm not sure if it's a done deal or not, but I might be drastically changing my living situation soon. I could use some well wishing :')

I hope you're all doing well, have a great week!

"All of this is starting to make sense in my mind"

"I never thought I would be this comfortable with the idea"

Those are some MASSIVE red flags in the mythos universe. Or just red flags in general, I suppose.

I desperately want a British person narrating a nature documentary about what unspeakable (but pretty) thing is happening in the sky in panel 2.

Hmmm...it's a skywhale feeding on sky plankton, or a swarm of pirahna-thingies about to devour a skywhale.

(How's my David Attenborough impression?)

We see here the majestic "screaming blood whale" or the "xnthalophgihanzijEEM" as it is referred to by the local tribespeople.

The glowing dance we see is beautiful, yes, but one of death as well. For you see, this is the blood whale's final meal. Just 'neath its skin hundred of thousands of eggs have been gestating for months. After its hunger has been sated the blood whale will plummet earthward, the impact causing the myriad egg-sacks to explode, spilling the young to the ground.

The larval blood whales will be quick to find hosts, beginning the cycle of life once again.

Good luck with the opportunity / moving. Don't worry about the odd gap or filler if inconvenient life gets in the way. We'll still all be here waiting for the next exciting episode when you get back.

Sorry that your name isn't showing up, I guess Comicfury has a bug going on that's making it so names aren't showing up even if you fill the field in? It's weird. I think this is Bob though... either way, thank you so much, I don't think it'll come to that! :)

Irwin needs the power, Thigg needs the body. They are the perfect match even if they were unwilling to help each other.

Also, since Irwin lost his arm (kinda) and now has Thigg replacing it... at this rate I wonder how much Irwin is going to be left after everything is done. Thigg might as well consume him whole later and reborn himself or something...

It seems like Thigg is more than willing, Irwin rightfully has some reservations about the whole situation :')

It's a good question, though, knowing when to stop in terms of replacing parts. When will it be enough? Hmm..

Everyone else has better input on the mythos, but for some reason the following popped into my head when I saw this scenery:

"From days of long ago,
From unchartered regions
Of the universe,
Comes a legend."

I guess being a fan of the original Voltron cartoon series sticks with you, even decades later. ;)

good luck with the job stuff. as for the possibility of uneven updates, it is always easier to be patient if we have some warning or notification beforehand. and you've been pretty good about keeping us in the loop so far.

I have enough pages done beforehand that even if I stopped right NOW and made the move you'd still get pages for a month, my concern is the page quality after I get there. Will the stress kill me? I don't know!

I'll be sure to keep you all in the loop, though, I owe it to you guys to be transparent about what's coming up IRL that could impact the comic.

I'm thinking about this since yesterday and I still have no idea about what say regarding the job and moving.
Is there such a thing as a commenter's block? ;D

My random thoughts, anyway:

- RL must come first.

- I hope you make sure that you got the job for real before moving.

- There are things I would say to myself in such a situation, but they won't most likely apply to you or most other people. Even the things I do say now may not apply to you.

- I see a greater danger in burning out from only slightly increased stress. Thus I would rather wait 2 or 3 months for a new page than risking that your relationship with the comic becomes stressed.

- One other option I can think of, if you fear that the quality of the pages may suffer: Posting only (high-quality, as you do now) line-art-only pages for some time. You could color them later, at a slower speed, when things are settled.

- You may already have thought of all of the abovementioned ideas.

- idk.

Oh it's cool man :)

I agree with you a lot, there's a bigger danger with burning out if I'm any more stressed than I am right now, which is pretty stressed unfortunately. I'm weighing my options. I don't know if I even have the job yet, and a large part of me is hoping to hear that I don't, if I'm being honest. If I get the offer then I feel obligated to go, but I don't really want to.

I just don't feel ready. I also don't want to turn down opportunity when it knocks, though.

Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it :)

Is Irwin wearing boots or is he Thigg from the knees down? It's interesting that Thigg is presenting their biological relationship as one of mutual influence. I laughed out loud at the commentary. Joeyballast also reads really well in a Steve Irwin accent.
My two cents on the job versus comic issue is that you have to take the long view. The comic is like a new business. It's off to a good start but it isn't self supporting yet. You may have to slow down a bit but it is a lot easier to produce a comic when you aren't worried about how you are going to cover the rent. Take care of yourself and the rest will work out.

Boots. Then again, it seems that Irvin didn't have them all the time. The thought never appeared to me but maybe Thigg made them.

Also, Thigg shrank - or moved much of it's substance/mass into the new arm. Which tells that it wasn't Thigg who ate most of this whale, and it's a bit much to digest for Irwin...

Thanks, guys :) I'll keep up the comic no matter what, this is my mission.

In terms of the boots and the shrinking Thigg - the boots are things that Thigg made that it then separated from itself, so they're just wearable boots that are pretty much custom fitted onto Irwin's legs now. As far as the 'shrinking' goes, Thigg never consumed Irwin's body or anything like that, just wrapped around him like an armor vest :)

Since they're not fighting, Thigg went back to being a chest cavity and replacing the arm.

That Guy Over There

So, the human becomes more alien, and the alien... more human? Somehow, I suspect that the end result will not be a happy ending. This is a Lovecraftian 'verse after all. The only ones who get happy endings are those who never entered the story to begin with. As my favorite line in Game of Thrones goes, "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention."
