And with that, Chapter 9 comes to a close. So many pieces in place, now :)

And with that - I'll be taking a break! I've already started working on the next chapter so I'm starting to find my drive again. I think not getting the industry job was the last blow to my ego I could take at my current level of stress :')

Basically, I'll not be posting new comic pages until 11/15. Until that point, I'll be posting guest art (Some I've received!) or personal doodles if the guest art runs dry, so you'll still have a reason to come check out the page! Also, if for some reason I reach some sort of development in terms of a published version on the horizon, which I've started researching.

Actually, let me ask that here! What do you guys think about a kickstarter for a printed version of the comic? I looked into it and I found that I can print trades (like Hellboy trades) of three chapters at a time for a fairly reasonable price - I think the kickstarter would be for around 4,000-5,000 dollars. Does this sound attainable? Who here might contribute to such a thing? I can't think of a better place to ask to gauge interest :)

I'll stop rambling now - thank you, every one of you, if I didn't have your readership and support I wouldn't have made it to this point, more than THREE YEARS since I started. It's crazy, looking back. Have a great weekend everyone :)

Good ending. I love the little illustration in the bottom right. The grey on black is nicely Mignola-esque.

Also, sent the guest art via PM.

Thank you! And yeah, I have to say I do wear my influence on my sleeve sometimes XD I was hoping it would read that way.

Also, when I saw your PM I braced myself to be blown away. I was. I think these guys are going to love it :)

A cliffhanger, wuaaaagh

*marks 11/15 on his calendar*

Having never printed a book, I really don't feel comfortable saying "yeah that works!" but that price seems pretty low. I know you research the hell out of your work so if other kickstarted novels are around that same price then i say yeah, go for it, i'm just worried it's not enough to actually get the printing done.

You know me and my cliffs that I hang from!

I did the research ahead of time and that's actually an amount ABOVE what it would cost to get a decent amount of them printed - the overhead is to cover kickstarter/indiegogo's costs and also to cover shipping costs, mostly :)

*GRIP ON TIE INTENSIFIES*

I would throw so much money at a Kickstarter! I think you should go for it! Maybe try IndieGogo for flexible funding?
I think 4k to 5k should cover it, having printed my own stuff before. It depends on how many copies you make, of course!

INTENSE TIE PULLING

Aah, thank you! I think Indiegogo might be what I use instead, I'll have to look at various funding options and see what fits me best :) I really appreciate the support!

Not foolish at all! :) You can sign up for Comicfury and private message it to me, you can send it as a message to my Facebook account at https://www.facebook.com/TSOIComic/ , or you can send it to me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/MistakeNPotates

I'm excited to see what you've got coming :D

I THINK the better statement is that they usually "live long enough to be useful" whether that is short or long is up to the cursed soul but I guess anything supernatural would be short for humans...

Or maybe it is the other way around. Perhaps the dark guy saw something in Chase and selected him and will not give him up easily. Artifact or not, quite the skill to survive an encounter with a group of highly trained monsters!

That would work, too! Hahah. I don't know if it was skill on Chase's part so much as having so many guns :')

Well, at least Roy seems to be honest and is not giving them an unrealistic pep-talk, and I have no doubt that his description of how he's feeling at this point is accurate.

Chase, oddly enough, is just a little bit harder for me to read, partly because his favorite expression seems to be some form of scowling. :D If I had to put money on it though, I'd say he's incredibly nervous while remaining stubbornly resolute. His personality seems to be one of those archetypes that never backs down, despite the odds, and that determination will either see him through this tale or be his undoing. No matter how it turns out though, I'm along for the ride. ;)

What about Clara? Will we get to see her reaction next chapter?

Also, I'd be up for supporting a Kickstarter for a printed version. I haven't backed any yet that were done as standard style comics, they've all been soft or hard bound books containing multiple chapters/volumes, but if the price is right it could be an interesting approach. :)

I'm glad this is reading well for you :)

Chase likes to project an unshakeable persona, but if you recall it was not actually him who decided to pursue the lead. He was going to let it be until he found out Irwin went and he went to go try to save his brother.

Clara, though, we get more of what her involvement will be next chapter, yes...

also at some point during the next chapter I'll relay all of my findings from my crowdfunding research over my break, which I'm dedicating the entirety of the third week to. At the price I'm looking at it looks like I could sell them for 15 dollars apiece after the kickstarted, but probably about 10 dollars for the funders themselves.

I hope it works out, either way :')

Great place to leave it, for sure. We're heavily invested in the fates of both sides of this equation (something that's not easy to do!), and there's plenty of questions unanswered that are intriguing rather than frustrating.

Enjoy your break, I say! We'll all be milling around the table to see what you bring with you when you come back.

I'm glad you're still rooting for both sides, I've been trying to strike that balance and I wasn't sure if I was good enough of a writer to pull it off. It makes me feel good :)

My break has been good so far, I've been getting a little extra art done that I'll happily share when I get back! Thank you for being a great reader! :)

Enjoy your break. Oh, and if you do a Q&A, here's one for Jaunt:
Okay, so the Deep Ones are half-human, so they can eat regular food, and Nyarlathotep is... whatever he is, so it's questionable as to whether or not he eats at all, but Jaunt, your physiology is alien, but not so alien as to not require sustenance. So, my question is, can you eat the same food as humans, or do you have to have your meals delivered from someplace off-planet?

Aaah, no Q&A this time, unfortunately, so I could like, save this question or I could answer it here, whichever you'd prefer :)

Save it for next time, I think. Mainly because, I think it would be funny if, should the answer be no, we're given a flash back to the one time Jaunt tried 'human food', and what happened. I imagine that a bad reaction to food is interesting when your digestive tract works off of non-euclidian geometry.

A nice interchange of information. I hate it when one side (or both sides) withholds information for no other reason than stroking their own egotistical feelings of superiority.

A good ending for the chapter.

Enjoy your break, you have certainly earned it!

I meant to make it mysterious the first time these two met, but I definitely wanted some information exchange here. There's more to come next chapter, which I've already gotten a good chunk of pages into :D

I'm glad you like the ending, and thank you! I'm glad you're all okay with me taking a break! It's been AWESOME so far, haha! :D
