Okay! I would like to preemptively apologize for the quality of this, and the following 2-3 pages. I was in an 'emotionally compromised state' when I created them and I am personally not pleased with the art or the composition, which is very frustrating.

I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it, and NOW I'm fine (these were drawn 4 weeks ago or so) I just remember being really worked up about them, so, yeah, laying that on the table :')

I'm fine, as I said. I suppose 3 is an appropriate rating.

Man clara is looking real stylish here! I dunno but I would not want a statue like that in my house. I feel like it would take life of it own and eat my brain!

I super didn't do her justice in this scene - I promise to draw this outfit better going forward :)

And yeah, that sculpture is just a tad creepy to have in your own home...

I understand about being your own harshest critic. On the other hand it still moves the story forward. That is a pretty slick deflection on her part.

Thank you - yeah, if nothing else these three pages definitely set something in motion. The plot, she moves.

I really like the gowns that women wore in the 20s and 30s. The costume design was one of my favorite parts of the Peter Ustinov "Poirot" movies.

Claire's gown is nicely drawn. Beginning artists frequently have problems with the way that gowns drape over the wearer's figure. Clearly, you are not a beginning artist.

Ah, thank you :')

I want to draw women in more elegant things, too, but Clara isn't that type of person typically. She fought with herself not to show up in her riding pants!

Hmm,yes. I could see that. Even though the fashion would have been a couple of years old by the late twenties, Clara's bobbed hair would still have been adventurous. Riding pants would be about it until women's slacks became a thing in the mid thirties.

It's true - Clara's dresses are not the most up to date because she doesn't care to wear them, but there were definitely women like that in the 1920s that refused to wear them at all! Ladies had their own pants made and such, but that didn't get much representation since it was "acting out" or breaking societal norms, heheh.

Little details make me happy. :) She's wearing an ankh, furthering her claims of fascination with Egyptology.

Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well, but glad that you're doing better now. I really love the way you take elements from the original story and give them a little twist to make them something new, like the statuette on this page. ^.^

Thank you for the concern! I am doing better now, so it's cool :)

I am kinda just picking pieces and slapping them together, for sure, I just hope people like the mix!

I thought the successful authors pour tears into their work, chop off their ears or end up in an asylum so...
...nah, happens, gotta do it :>

Heh, the Don seems pretty likable here but then he never came across as a bad guy, really. Just another guy with motives...

Haha, sometimes you have to put up with a page that just doesn't agree with you, I guess :)

I wanted to give people the sense that the don was a little more aloof, since he's removed from the more violent aspects of his work - it allows him to be an eccentric, rather than think only about business all the time :)

I think you should see this strip as a big positive. Even though Mr Brain was Not Your Friend, you still managed to produce a perfectly acceptable page, even though you might not think it is up to your usual standard. Keeping going in the face of adversity is the important thing.
The page looks fine to me (although now you mention it, should there be some wine in those glasses?) :-)
