Thiiiis page was both a burden and a lot of fun. I tried to think of the last two "mega panels" as if it were animated, with the scenes rotating behind Chase's head as he slowly turns to face the camera and removes his hat... it's a cool visual in my head, anyway.

This concludes story time, though, starting next week we are back in REAL time :D

I knew that there is such a thing as a doctor fish. But a cop fish? :-D

Hee hee, it was a funny visual on my head... whether that's actually how the guy looks or just Chase's imagination, I'm not sure... :D

Really neat paneling! Yeah, I can definitely imagine this comic in an animated form.

I bet those gravely, sloshy voices make telephone conferences a bit difficult.

Aw gee, thanks TPO :D I did start out this comic as a pitch for an animated series, but since then I've just been trying to draw, basically, frames from a cartoon.

It would make the transition pretty easy if it for some reason happened some day :'D

And yeah, I'm trying to think of exactly how a deep one probably sounds... imagine the cockroach guy from the beginning of Men In Black, maybe?

That is why the monsters have a good natural cover. Who would believe that, right? It is not like you should blame the chief TOO much.
I guess the chief just thought Chase is a clown and is not hiding anything. Does Jaunt has the police in his pocket? :O
You cannot have a fish guy answering the phone like that...

Oh yeah, chief is definitely not out of line, here...

Actually there's a good chance that Jaunt has little to do with the police in Innsmouth. He's pulling strings a little higher up, so they are maybe influenced by stuff that comes down the chain from him.

As I said with Fabian I'm not sure whether that's how the guy looks or if that's just Chase's imagination.. I like to think the latter, but I do think it would be funny to have someone who, like Hugh, is so dedicated to their job they keep doing it well after the point that they've progressed beyond an acceptable point :')

I love how you treated all the panels, but two and three really are outstanding.

That's okay!

I noticed that you rated it down, though, is there something I could change on this page that you would like to suggest?

I haven't mentioned it, but good work on the authentic look of the police uniforms. They weren't designed for comfort and utility back then.

Oh yeah, I love the police outfits of the 1920s :D

They're probably not comfortable, but they do command a certain presence. I really like them a lot, heh :)

I appreciate the work you've done on this page. Exposition is hard to do. Delivering all that info to the reader and yet keep it coherent and keeping with the flow of your narrative is not an easy thing to manage.

Nice work "WrongSpud" ;p

Ah, thank you!

I try to avoid it as much as possible, but I wanted to get through Chase's motivation without spending like, a whole chapter on it :I Glad to hear it's working out as intended :)

I appreciate your kind words, Skweekums ;D

Singing badly:" the Deep Police, they're coming for me". Seriously though, Deep One society is an un-mined treasure. One wonders who a deep one would police, probably outsiders mostly but Hugh and company imply a higher level of agency than most descriptions of Innsmouth residents would imply. Could the deep ones have a criminal element relative to their own society?

You know I thought it would be really interesting to explore that, too - I only touch a little on it through the course of the story because I don't want to try and act like an authority, so I try to keep it light.

I have to figure that something like this happens, though, where people keep trying to do their job well beyond the point that they should.

In terms of policing though, I assume the police are more used to 'keep the peace' from outsiders, or used as muscle when one of the residents has a less-than-peaceful transformation. At least that's how I imagine it :)

I enjoy that your deep ones do more than shuffle around and look menacing, though they do that well. Most of the deep one characters I noticed in other fiction generally drop off the map soon after the transformation begins. The varying degrees of acceptance of their transformation makes them more interesting characters.

Haha, thank you :D

Yeah, I know what you mean, for sure - I just happen to like monster characters too much to let it be once they turn. I want to see them more, and give them a personality, even if it might be a little blasphemous...
