This backstory makes me love Clara even more!

And why can't I shake the feeling that her father is no longer around, as in "dead"?

There aren't a lot of happy people in this story, are there? I guess Jaunt's pretty happy by default. Paulie seems to be doing pretty good, too.

Jaunt is so happy that he makes up for everyone else's glumness!

I'm glad you like it - I actually got really tired of looking at this page, I had a lot of trouble with it, so I have trouble appreciating my own efforts, heh. Thank you Sig!

Heh. Once parents set their minds on something, like what they kid HAS to be instead of supporting what the kids likes, it goes to crap no matter what. Clara tried though. Definitely not her fault that she was even born. She still seems to respect her dad :/

When it comes to wealthy families that want to protect their estate, they usually have higher expectations of their kids, too.

Fortunately in Clara's case, her did didn't make her do these things, it was her own decision, so she was much happier for it than is usually the case :)

Nice exposition!
you know, you never see the boy trying to be the daughter his mother always wanted..

I always dread exposition, thanks man :')

And that's true! I have actually seen it a couple times but only in stories. Meanwhile when I went around asking girls who were only children that I know almost all of them confirmed feeling this kind of pressure growing up. And that's in MODERN TIMES.

We need to get over that craziness, man.

That last panel lets us look into the depths of Clara's very being. Well done!

I'm glad you see that :) She hasn't had a lot of opportunities to let her guard down in the story so far, so I thought it might stand out.

Aw this makes a lot of sense-- poor Clara! It's not fun feeling like a disappointment to your family (I can relate to that feeling!)

Unfortunately a lot of femmes I talked to about this part of the script related :( It's really sad to hear that...
